Raash Purnima or Kartik Purnima 2025

Kartik Punima is very famous to all the devotees because it is known as Raash Punima, the day when Krishna celebrated Raas with gopis. Devotees feel love for their lord and celebrate it in various ways.

This year we went to a Satyanarayana puja in our neighborhood on Kartik purnima. It was a pious occasion to feel devotion towards God. After puja, we had prasaad there. In the evening we worshipped Shri Satyanarayana and Radha Krishna. We listened to some devotional songs like 'Rumujhum Rumujhum nupur baaje' ( written by Kazi Nazrul Islam and sang by Anup Jalota), 'Kanha re thoda sa pyar de' ( from Ramanand Sagar's 'Shri Krishna' tv serial) and some more such songs. Later when we went out in our balcony, we saw the full moon in the sky, which was looking very bright.

In West Bengal, Raas Purnima is celebrated with great pomp and grandeur in Shantipur and Nabadwip. These days, we are watching many videos of raas puja mandaps and pratima from Nabadwip and Shantipur. There are so much variety in the pratima in different pandals that they bring pure joy in the hearts of the devotees. We watched the videos by Wish Bucket Youtube channel about Raas Utsav celebration in Shantipur and Nabadwip.

In Varanasi, Kartik purnima day is celebrated as Dev Deepavali to celebrate Lord Shiva's win over Tripurasur. Varanasi is decorated beautifully with diyas on this occasion.

One day before this purnima comes the day of Vaikuntha Chaturdashi. On that day, Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva are worshipped together, which is very auspicious day for the devotees.

Such pious days are like a blessing to the devotees as they feel love for the Supreme Lord in so many various ways through different activities.

With Lots of love and best wishes,

Jai Shri Krishna.

'Hari Haraye Namah Krishna'

This is a very famous and old stotra on Shri Krishna. I heard it for the first time in the film 'Aagantuk'. Utpal Dutt was reciting this stotra, the original voice was of Satyajit Ray's, I think. But there the stotra remained incomplete as the next events of the film started taking place. From then, I always wanted to listen the full stotra along with reading it. Very recently I came to the audio track of the same and got the lyrics on internet. It has 10 stanzas, written by Narottam Das. Above the post I have given the vidoe of the song from YouTube, and here is the lyrics, and the English translation (which I got from the internet, credit goes to the original writer who posted the lyrics). (1) Hari haraye namah krishna yadavaya namah Yadavaya madhavaya kesavaya namah (2) Gopala govinda rama sri-madhusudana Giridhari gopinatha madana-mohana (3) Sri-caitanya-nityananda sri-advaita-sita Hari guru vaishnava bhagavata gita (4) Sri-rupa sanatana bhatta-...
